A warm shower in the morning, the heated pool after a bike ride and the power for your electric car: at Mondseeblick on Lake Mondsee, much of this comes straight from the farm.
Around 80% of the electricity is supplied by the photovoltaic system, the heat comes from our own forest, and the water flows from a spring at around 800 m above sea level.
The photovoltaic system at Mondseeblick has grown in three stages: the first part went into operation in 2013, followed by two extensions in 2020 and 2026 to today’s output of 60 kW.
This allows the farm to cover around 80% of its own electricity needs. A lithium iron phosphate battery with a capacity of 101 kWh keeps the solar power available into the evening.
Heat at Mondseeblick comes from a wood chip heating system fuelled by wood from the farm’s own 40-hectare forest. It heats all buildings, provides hot water and keeps the pool warm all year round.
In summer, a 25 kW solar thermal system supports the hot water supply, and the wood chip heating dries the hay for the farm.
