At the Mondseeblick farm in Innerschwand on Lake Mondsee, around 40 dairy cows live with their calves, and guests staying in the apartments are right in the middle of the barn work.
Young farmer Philipp looks after his animals with heart and soul and is happy to take you and your children into the barn, an experience for the whole family. Mondseeblick is also a certified safety farm (Sicherheits-Bauernhof).
There is no classic farm tour at Mondseeblick, but something real instead: you join Rosa and Philipp for the daily barn work and lend a hand. Barn times are at 6 am and 4 pm, and there is no need to register. The meeting point is at the calves, so just come along.
During the barn work, children and adults get stuck in themselves: the calves get their milk, fresh water, fresh straw for their pen and fresh hay. Hay is also pushed up for the dry cows, meaning the cows on their milking break before their next calf.
In between there is time to stroke the animals, and Philipp is happy to answer all your questions.
The dairy cows at Mondseeblick are milked by a milking robot. During the barn work, Philipp explains how the robot works and what modern milk production looks like on a family farm in the Salzkammergut.

Mondseeblick is home to dairy cows, calves and heifers, meaning young cows that have not yet had a calf. Then there are the five farm cats, Fleckerl, Frida, Freddy, Friedrich and Schnurrli. With a bit of luck, you might even see a calf being born.

Yes, at Mondseeblick children help feed the calves with milk, supply the calf pens with water, straw and hay, and push up hay. They can also stroke the animals.
